PYO Pumpkins

We have some monsters this year but as ever over 20 varieties of pumpkins for you to pick, from the Polar Bear to the Goosebump and even the cute Casparita and Munchkins.

Visit the Museum of Pumpkinology for more information on pumpkins, Halloween, what to do with pumpkins and more.

Helpful Hints
Over the years we have worked out what works and does not for PYO so offer the following as helpful hints.

Footwear -Wellies rather than white trainers are great. We do not have shoe covers!
Clothing- Have something to put over the lovely outfit if it gets wet or muddy.
PPPT – Post Picking Pumpkin Transport is easier in a bag, cleaner with some cardboard in your boot or more seasonal with our hessian Picking Patch sacks.

Murder Mystery Maze

Cap’n Bad Bob cordially invites you to join him, his skeleton crew and a motley collection of ghosts, ghouls, spirits and other unfortunates, who have since passed to the other side, to his infamously renowned, annual Halloween Party. The Pirate Hotel will be hosting with DJ Skellie mixing his finest tunes!

BUT all is not as “pleasant” as it seems as a guest disappears, in mysterious circumstances. We need your sleuthing skills to solve the mystery of the murdered skeleton.

“To die once is unfortunate, to die twice looks like carelessness”
Cap’n Bad Bob 2023

If the cowardly culprit is not found and jailed nobody will be safe to venture out onto the patch! Finish the maze and go to the jail to see if you got it right.

There is a Junior Sleuth’s trail or the more difficult Detectives Maze.

On arrival you will get your Sleuths Manual which contains suspects list, clues, codes and other information that may help or hinder you on your quest. Decide to work as a team with one manual or compete, in a friendly way. A pen or pencil will be useful!

Halloween Barrel Train

Take a ride round the patch on our Halloween themed barrel train and you can spot your favourite pumpkin but watch out and that the witches do not catch you with a spell as you pass their house!

The barrels seat 1 – small children may sit on adults lap – £2.50 per barrel

Twilight Maze

Torchlight PYO Pumpkins and Mystery Maze will be open on certain evenings in October.

The murder mystery maze will have a quick revamp so you can “enjoy” getting lost with only your wits and the light of your torch to help. Is it really a monster behind you or is the imagination running a little wild. Are the sinister noises coming from in front part of the murder mystery plot or are you hearing things that should not be there!

Once through and finished with the sleuthing enjoy some PYO Pumpkins, DIY photo shoots or a hot chocoloate to warm you up!

Escape Room

Enter the culinary themed escape room, with some grim Halloween twists, to find out if you are really the Chef or the bottle washer! Find the ingredients that are needed to allow you to move from the stores to the kitchen, which may mean you can find your way out, rather than become another victim added to the stockpot!

We recommend this escape room for ages 13+

Bookings can be made individually and you may be put with other people, or there is an option to book the whole slot privately (fits 6 people)

Arts & Crafts

Crafty art is going freestyle at the patch this year with a chance for you to make, create and take in a Halloween style. Puppet making, Hat decorating, Bat wings, Witches potions, spider web decorating, and wand making are all part of our Halloween event. Design what you want, how you want it.

How It Works
– Have a chat with our Head Crafter and select your project – wands, hats, puppets and so on.
– Choose your medium – paints, colouring pens, ribbons, stickers or whatever else you can see.

Short on ribbon? decide to alter your style mid project? Then come back for more!
From £5-£7.50 for your crafts with materials, get crafting!

Photo Spots

The DIY Photo shoot options look so amazing that we can all take the best photos to share.

The Pumpkin carriage is set to take centre stage alongside our handmade giant pumpkin scarecrow, Halloween themed dress up in the theatre, genuine Witches house, pumpkin houses and of course acres of beautiful pumpkins, wheelbarrows and smiles!
