Hey guys! 👋 We've got a busy month of #farming

Hey guys! 👋 We've got a busy month of #farming across our #PickingPatch sites this month. Here's what we'll be up to👇

🌾 The #MaizeMaze is starting to come through which is super exciting, and we'll be keeping on top of any weeds that come through.

🌸 We will be planting our #sunflowers and #wildflowers.

🎃 #Pumpkins will start to be planted ready for the autumn.

💚 There is so much energy across the farms this month as the weather really warms up, and we will see the fields change from brown to green as the #crops shoot up! Keep watching for the updates!

Did you know #Sunflowers are one of the best #summerflowers to plant for pollinators?

🌻 The brightly coloured petals shout "Oi! Over here!" to #bees and other #pollinators like hoverflies, directing them to the central spirals of the sunflower. 🐝

These are formed of many hundreds of small tubular flowers, packed with nectar and pollen. (This is 😍 for the pollinators!)

The insects get covered in #pollen as they feed and this type of pollination by wild bumblebees, especially ones with longer tongues, helps the plant produce more quality seed. 🙌

🌱 A very important part of getting our #MaizeMa

🌱 A very important part of getting our #MaizeMaze ready is, drilling the field.

This process is usually done in a criss cross pattern on the tractor, this will create density, so when the Maize grows it is thick and will become the walls of our maze. 🚜

We plan out our maze digitally, which is then plugged into an incredible piece of software that links to the tractor, and helps us to sow the Maize seeds in the correct place.

When doing this process, we look for lovely warm weather followed by some good rain, so the seeds can germinate. 🌾
